ERM's Rate the Raters ranks EcoVadis first for usefulness among corporates and second among investors, reinforcing the growing importance of practical business value in sustainability ratings.
PARIS and NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- EcoVadis, the global standard for resilient, sustainable supply chains, today highlighted its results in ERM Sustainability Institute's Rate the Raters, the long-running survey assessing how corporates and investors rate the ESG ratings providers they use.
EcoVadis ranked in the top three for both quality and usefulness across the two audiences:
- Corporates (2025 survey): 1st for usefulness, 3rd for quality
- Investors (2026 survey): 2nd for usefulness, 3rd for quality
EcoVadis is the only provider among the 14 surveyed to rank in the top three across all four measures. The results reflect recognition from both corporate users and investors, reinforcing the importance of ratings that deliver reliable insights and practical value.
"Corporates recognised the quality and usefulness of EcoVadis ratings last year. It's encouraging to see that recognition extends to investors too. It reinforces what we've always believed: sustainability ratings need to do more than measure performance. They need to help businesses make better decisions," said Pierre-François Thaler, co-founder and co-CEO of EcoVadis.
From ESG ratings to measurable business value
The recognition comes as businesses place greater emphasis on the practical value of sustainability intelligence in supply chains. Beyond meeting reporting and compliance requirements, organisations increasingly need reliable supplier data to manage risk, strengthen resilience and identify opportunities for growth.
EcoVadis' 2026 Sustainable Procurement Barometer, developed with Accenture, shows how this is changing. Among the top 10% of sustainable procurement performers, 80% identify innovation as a driver of return on investment, compared with 54% of other companies. Yet demonstrating that value remains a challenge, with more than half of respondents citing unclear ROI as a barrier to further investment.
The challenge is not simply access to sustainability data, but making that data useful. Businesses need to understand where risks sit across their supply chains, where suppliers need support and which actions will deliver measurable improvements.
EcoVadis helps organisations make that connection by bringing together sustainability ratings, risk and carbon intelligence, supplier engagement and performance improvement tools. By embedding these insights into procurement and supplier management decisions, businesses can move beyond assessment and reporting towards more resilient supply chains and measurable business outcomes.
"The value of an ESG rating is ultimately determined by what organisations can do with it. Quality is the baseline. Turning rating intelligence into better decisions and measurable improvements is what elevates a rating's value. That's where we've focused our investment, and it's encouraging to see that usefulness recognised by both corporates and investors," said Sylvain Guyoton, Chief Rating Officer, EcoVadis.
