Edia launches new research initiative with Gates Foundation support to address critical learning gaps as more than half of U.S. students fail to achieve math proficiency

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Edia today announced strategic partnerships with school districts in San Francisco, Cincinnati, Wichita and Denver to deploy its AI-powered math education platform in response to the nation's growing mathematics proficiency crisis. With over 50% of U.S. students currently performing below grade-level standards in mathematics, these partnerships represent a critical intervention to improve student outcomes.

The initiative, launched with support from the Gates Foundation, will provide thousands of students with personalized AI-driven math instruction designed to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps, while producing important insights on how Edia's innovative AI features improve student motivation, engagement, and learning. Edia's platform uses advanced algorithms to adapt to each student's learning pace and style, offering targeted support where it's needed most.

Transforming Math Education at Scale

The program will provide support to 5,000+ students in each school district. Implementation will begin at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year with the program supporting students for the entire 2025-26 school year.

The primary goal is to accelerate growth in math proficiency as measured by district benchmarks and end-of-year state testing. The initiative will also study the impact personalized AI Math Coaching can have on learning outcomes and identify which features most effectively drive student motivation, engagement, and perseverance in mathematics.
