Editor-In-Chief of Chemical Geology, Professor Roberta Rudnick, Elected to NAS

AMSTERDAM, May 11, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Elsevier's Chemical Geology journal is celebrating the election of one of its Editors-in-Chief, Professor Roberta Rudnick, to the National Academy of Sciences.

Professor Rudnick is professor of geology at the University of Maryland, College Park, and has been an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal since 2000. After gaining her PhD at the Australian National University, Professor Rudnick worked as a von Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, before returning to ANU as a research fellow. She then spent 6 years at Harvard University, before taking up her current role.

Her research focuses on the origin and evolution of the continents, particularly the lower continental crust and the underlying mantle lithosphere. It is a characteristic of Professor Rudnick's research that it places an emphasis on the integration of data from a wide diversity of sources, including petrography, petrology, major and trace element geochemistry, isotope geochemistry and geophysics.
