EEOC Issues Final Rules That Support Promotion of Workplace Wellness Programs

DALLAS, May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Viverae®, a leader in workplace wellness, is pleased that the final rulings issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) indicated the EEOC's support of the use of financial incentives to encourage employees and their spouses to participate in workplace wellness programs. The final rules, which were announced Monday, allow companies to offer limited financial rewards to employees, as well as their spouses, who participate in company-sponsored wellness programs. The rules also brought clarity to what the EEOC considers a "voluntary" wellness program. Both rules will take effect January 1, 2017.
