Effectively Managing the Hybrid Cloud : Infrastructure-Neutral Platforms Offer Hybrid Benefits
LONDON, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In this SPIE, we examine two such management software providers—Accelerite and Embotics—showcasing their platforms and capabilities. Both Accelerite and Embotics seek to help enterprises manage infrastructures across multiple deployment models and providers. In addition to delving into each provider's solutions, we discuss the potential for success of the infrastructure-neutral cloud management model.
Introduction
Hybrid clouds are here to stay. Based on a 2015 Frost & Sullivan survey of U.S. businesses, % of respondents currently use a hybrid cloud configuration, or plan to deploy one within the next two years.
To optimize IT investments, and accommodate a variety of workloads and applications, enterprises are deploying many types of IT infrastructure and services. This leaves the enterprise IT director with the challenge of managing the variety of infrastructure environments and deployment models. Of the businesses that Frost & Sullivan surveyed, % are concerned about incomplete visibility across cloud and premises environments. Nearly % list "managing multiple data center and cloud environments" among their top data center challenges; and % cite integrating premisesbased and cloud environments.
In response, providers of IT management software have brought to market potential solutions: infrastructure-neutral hybrid cloud management platforms. Such platforms have been designed with the ability to manage the resources of multiple deployment models and environments—physical and virtualized machines based on-premises or in the cloud; and, in some cases, even containers— through a single enterprise management portal.
The platforms offer visibility across an enterprise's total environment; control to change the environment as needed to meet business needs or objectives; and, in many cases, automation and predictive analytics that learn how the environment operates, allow the setting of appropriate thresholds, or make intelligent change recommendations that will optimize the efficiency of the hybrid cloud.
