EHE International Gifts Helps Cancer Patients in NY
EHE International employees collect supplies for American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge NYC
NEW YORK, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EHE International, a nationally-recognized leader in preventive medicine and annual physical exams, today announced that its employees donated more than 100 gifts to the American Cancer Society's (ACS) Hope Lodge NYC to celebrate the ACS's 100 years of bringing hope to cancer patients and families.
"I'm so proud of EHE International's generous employees for giving their own money and time to support the American Cancer Society and Hope Lodge NYC," said Deborah McKeever, president of EHE. "For the past 100 years, EHE has pioneered ground-breaking research in preventive medicine, and our corporate and individual support of the American Cancer Society enables us to continue improving the health, quality of life and care for those affected by cancer."
To celebrate the centennials of EHE and the ACS, EHE employees donated room furnishings and supplies including batteries, bath mats, coffee, towels, comforters, pillows, kitchenware and cleaning products, as well as gifts cards to area stores. The gifts were presented to ACS by EHE volunteers during a "birthday" party held May 22 at Hope Lodge NYC, a lodging and support center in midtown Manhattan for cancer patients and their caregivers who live more than an hour away. At the event, EHE also surprised guests with two beautiful birthday cakes designed and created by Pilar de Guzman, founder and pastry chef at Bonne Fete Baking.
In addition to the birthday party and gifts, EHE has supported the American Cancer Society by donating window advertising space at Rockefeller Center to highlight the ACS's 100th birthday. The ACS window display was featured on NBC's "Today" show, and the EHE window was recently profiled by Stuart Elliot in the New York Times. McKeever this year also joined the Women's Committee for Hope, a group of female leaders committed to advancing the mission of the Hope Lodge NYC.
The Hope Lodge NYC facility helps to reduce the financial and emotional stresses of seeking cancer treatment in New York City's world-class hospitals by providing free lodging. It is the flagship facility for a network of 31 Hope Lodges nationwide. Since Hope Lodge NYC opened its doors in November 2007, it has served over 8,700 people from 47 states and 32 countries.
