Electronic Recycling a Must for Arizona's Future: Participate in Arizona Technology Council's Free Technology Recycling Event

PHOENIX, Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A Technology Recycling Event, held twice a year in Arizona through the Arizona Technology Council Foundation and supported by Data Doctors and Westech Recyclers, is a resounding answer to a distress call from our future. Those wishing to address the issue of electronic waste can participate by safely disposing computer, manufacturing and other electronic equipment at major drop-off locations located throughout the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas or ANY Arizona Data Doctors locations in the state including Tucson and Flagstaff. A complete list of Data Doctors locations can be found at http://www.datadoctors.com/mkt/AZ. Receipts for tax donation purposes will be available at all locations

Drop-off Dates, Locations and Times:
The following Phoenix metro area drop-off locations are accepting donations on Saturday, January 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

The following Tucson drop-off locations are participating at various dates and times listed below:

• Thursday, January 24, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Friday, January 25, 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Open to the public: Texas Instruments in the Williams Centre, 5411 S. Williams Blvd., Tucson, AZ
• Monday, January 21 – Friday, January 25, 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For tenants only, not open to the public: UA Tech Park, 9030 West Building, Suite 100, North side, Tucson, AZ
• All Data Doctors locations during operating hours

The electronic equipment and components acceptable for drop-off includes personal computers, computer peripherals, networking equipment, main frames, servers, point-of-sale equipment, printers, audio/visual and telecom devices, surplus metals, wire, cable and power strips. Miscellaneous electronic items such as test and/or lab equipment are also acceptable.

"Our Foundation has chosen to take on the important work of increasing the collection and responsible recycling of used electronics," said Steven Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. "This program provides a service for all Arizona citizens to have their older computer and electronic equipment picked up and recycled twice a year at no cost."

Those wishing to donate their hard drives but want to make sure that the information is securely wiped can drop off their donations at the Data Doctors Data Recovery & Forensics lab in Tempe located at 725 S Rural Rd #107, Tempe 85281, or educate themselves by visiting http://bit.ly/KKvEq.

All donated equipment will be handled through the Arizona Technology Council Foundation's TechTerra Program in partnership with Westech Recyclers. As part of that program, a portion of the equipment is donated statewide to support Arizona educational programs.
