Eleven Fifty Academy Announces $500,000 in Scholarships
Dollars to Encourage Coding Careers to be Awarded in first Quarter of 2016
CARMEL, Ind., Dec. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Eleven Fifty Academy, a nonprofit coding academy, is proud to announce $500,000 in Coding Scholarships to be awarded in the first quarter of the New Year. The scholarship recipients will be selected based on 4 criteria: financial need, disability, diversity and coding potential. Scholarships for selected applicants will fund up to 50% of a student's course costs. This announcement comes on the heels of Eleven Fifty Academy providing nearly $1 million in course subsidies in 2015 due in part to donations and corporate sponsorships.
Those interested in being considered for a scholarship are being asked to complete the following on-line application https://elevenfifty.com/scholarship. A cross section of EFA staff will select the recipients who will be contacted within two business days of their application being received.
According to John Qualls, president of Eleven Fifty Academy, "We are providing these dollars through the Academy to give students of all ages the opportunity to become first time coders or to change their careers and become professional coders as quickly as possible in order to help fill the nation's growing technology skills gap. We recognize that for some people the money or the opportunity to become a coder simply doesn't exist without help."
Established in January of 2015, Eleven Fifty Academy has already served more than 600 students from 21 states and 4 countries.
