Elsevier Announces the Launch of a New Journal: Vehicular Communications

Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the launch a new journal, Vehicular Communications. The journal will be published quarterly, and focusses on the growing area of communications between vehicles and roadside communication infrastructure. The first issue is now available for free on ScienceDirect.

Advances in wireless communications and its ubiquitous nature now allow for access to communication infrastructure on highways by passengers in vehicles. Effort is underway to extend this wireless technology to allow communication between vehicles and also to roadside communication infrastructure. There is a huge wealth of information collected by sensors in vehicles and smart phones carried by passengers. Communication with and between vehicles will allow the collection of this information which can be used to increase the safety of vehicles, provide guidance and assistance to drivers, and used for entertainment.

Vehicular Communications aims to publish research on all areas related to communications between vehicles and roadside communication infrastructure, focusing on issues related to among others, routing, safety, physical layer, deployment and field testing, protocol design, reducing energy consumption, standardization. Advances in wireless communications are making the sharing of information in real time easier between vehicles and infrastructure. This has led to applications to increase both the safety of vehicles and enable efficient communication between passengers and the Internet.
