Embedded Vision Alliance Further Expands Membership, Announces New Embedded Vision Summit at DESIGN East Event

OAKLAND, Calif., July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Embedded Vision Alliance (www.Embedded-Vision.com) today announced that PointGrab (www.pointgrab.com) and videantis (www.videantis.com) have joined the Alliance as Technology Members. PointGrab is a provider of vision-based gesture control software for digital devices. videantis is a developer of licensable embedded vision hardware and software IP. These latest additions further expand the ranks of companies that have united in an industry partnership dedicated to inspiring and empowering engineers to design systems that see and understand.

The Alliance has also announced a new event for engineers, the Embedded Vision Summit (www.embedded-vision.com/embedded-vision-summit). The first Embedded Vision Summit will be held on September 19, 2012 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts, in conjunction with UBM Electronics' DESIGN East conference (east.ubmdesign.com).  The Summit will provide an opportunity for engineers to learn about the hottest technology in the electronics industry – "machines that see and understand."  Attendees of this free event will have access to a series of free "how-to" presentations, demonstrations, and a keynote talk by Professor Rosalind Piccard, founder and director of the Affective Computing Research Group at the MIT Media Laboratory.  Register now, as space is limited.

The site, increasing in content and visitors on a daily basis, serves as a source of practical information to help design engineers and application developers incorporate vision capabilities into their products. Access to resources on the web site is free to all. Site content is provided by Alliance staff and member companies. Information for prospective member companies is also available at the site. In December 2011, the Alliance launched the Embedded Vision Academy (www.EmbeddedVisionAcademy.com), a free online training facility for product developers interested in incorporating vision capabilities into their designs.
