eMeter Names Former VERITAS CEO Gary Bloom as CEO to Further Accelerate Growth

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- eMeter, the global leader in Smart Grid Management software, today announced that former VERITAS CEO and Symantec President, Gary Bloom, will be joining as the company's new chief executive officer.  Bloom brings more than two decades of senior executive experience in enterprise software to eMeter. This newest addition to the eMeter executive team not only reinforces the strong momentum of the company, but also demonstrates the undeniable potential for taking the Smart Grid mainstream. Under Bloom's leadership as CEO and Chairman, VERITAS grew from approximately $1.2 billion in revenue in 2000 to over $2.0 billion in 2004 and became the global leader in storage software.

Most recently, Bloom was Vice Chairman and President of Symantec where he led the company's line of business and corporate development organizations. Bloom joined Symantec through the company's merger with VERITAS Software, where he was Chairman, President and CEO.  Prior to VERITAS, Mr. Bloom was executive vice president at Oracle Corporation. During his 14-year career at Oracle, Bloom led Oracle's database business, worldwide marketing, support, education, and alliance organizations, and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Bloom holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University where he currently serves on the President's Cabinet and is the Chairman of the Board of the Cal Poly Foundation. Mr. Bloom also serves on the Board of Directors of BMC Software and Taleo Corporation.
