SHANGHAI, May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/-- CES Asia – Emfit is thrilled to announce the launching of a 3G mobile data version of the highly appraised Emfit QS Sleep Monitor – a true plug-and-sleep tracker
Tracking heart rate variability throughout the entire night gives a detailed picture of the progression of recovery during the night, and Emfit QS has garnered enormous traction among athletes worldwide thanks to this unique feature. Regardless, athletes who travel frequently need a solution when they are away from home that allows them to simply plug-in and go to sleep. Emfit QS now offers a 3G model, the perfect must-have for athletes who frequently hit the road for training camps and competition.
"For quite some time we've been approached by a number of professional teams to develop a solution that can be easy to use while traveling. Most athletes are satisfied using Emfit QS Wi-Fi with their phones as a hot spot during travel because of its unique combination of all-night heart rate variability and always-automatic recording for accurately tracking recovery," states Heikki Raisanen, CEO and Co-Founder at Emfit. "But some frequent travellers asked for ultimate ease of use. We were asked for a transportable, under-mattress sensor that required no phone pairing and charging, no matter where you are. We are able to do this with embedded 3G cellular data module in place of Wi-Fi. The perfect answer because the data Emfit QS provides is so valuable to a serious competitor that the small cost per month for a data SIM card feels like nothing. Especially when you get to a new resting place and can focus on the most important thing - sleep."
Emfit QS consists of a contact-free, passive sensor that is installed beneath the mattress and a small circular module that does signal acquisition and transmission to Emfit servers. The module connects to Wi-Fi - or now cellular data network – and a long cable allows device to be placed far from user to avoid any disturbance to sleep. A web-based application that is also optimized for use with smart phones provides comprehensive reports about physical recovery, fatigue, stress levels, and sleep quality. Emfit QS records the total amount of sleep, percentages of recuperating REM and deep sleep, heart rate, respiration rate, and activity during the entire night. Evening RMSSD value of heart rate variability shows accumulated stress over the course of the day, and morning RMSSD indicates recovery status and readiness for a new day. RMSSD data allows you to optimize a training schedule according to your actual body requirements, thereby avoiding overtraining and achieving peak performance. One of the many reasons Emfit QS is especially beneficial for athletes. Long-term evaluation of HRV indicates how effectively exercise or lifestyle changes are affecting performance and every day life.
Emfit QS is one of many devices that Sky Christopherson, World Record Holder and Founder of OAthlete, utilizes to create sustainable performance with Olympic athletes, including those preparing for the upcoming Rio Olympics. "Working with Olympic athletes, we use 'Data not Drugs' to boost every aspect of athlete health and performance. New technologies are enabling us to help athletes get exciting results, including 5 Olympic medals in the most recent Olympics. Moral and health arguments aside, we believe using data to leverage the natural strengths of our bodies will always win over the long run. Since sleep is foundational to health and performance, it is a focal point of our program and we have used every sensor on the market. The Emfit system is creating new capabilities in understanding sleep both with the goal of improving it, but also using it to better inform training decisions as we moved towards truly individualized training models. The ease of use and accuracy of Emfit is also unprecedented. As a result, the Emfit system is now an integral part of our 'Data not Drugs' program as we build a future that uses more data and less drugs, in sport, and hopefully in health."
