Emmy Award Winner Magnetic Dreams Boards 'The Sock Bandit'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy Award-winning VFX house Magnetic Dreams has partnered with Moving Pictures Media Group for the film adaptation of Mikael Bjorn's upcoming book, "Hugo The Sock Bandit".

"The Sock Bandit" tells the story of 8-year-old Hugo Martin who is swept up into a magical world when his father's socks come to life.

The film will be a combination of live action, puppeteering, and VFX. Magnetic Dreams has developed world-class expertise in the interface between VFX and puppet-based live action, with a long-standing relationship with Sesame Street and The Jim Henson Company.

Magnetic Dreams has won 17 Emmy Awards, for titles such as "Elmo The Musical".

Puppeteering will be overseen for Magnetic Dreams by Daytime Emmy Award- winning artist Rickey Boyd. Boyd's past work includes directing Grover, Elmo, and Cookie Monster, alongside many other Sesame Street characters, with credits including "Sesame Beginnings", "Muppet's Wizard of Oz", "Muppets From Space", "Muppets at Disney World", and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Production Supervision at Magnetic Dreams will be overseen by April Lawrence, who has over 10 years experience working with DreamWorks, serving as Production Supervisor on "How To Train Your Dragon", "Kung Fu Panda", "Rise of the Guardians", and "Shrek Forever After".

Ribbow Media Group will oversee digital marketing and audience analytics, with past credits including "Earth to Echo", "The Shack", "Hacksaw Ridge", and "Silence".

The film will be directed by Mikael Bjorn, and produced in association with Moving Pictures Media Group.

This will be the first kid's film from film development and production company Moving Pictures Media Group, which is helmed by three-time Oscar winner Michael Minkler.
