Enjoy Endless Hot Water and Increase Efficiency with Tankless Water Heaters

BOSTON, March 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric is encouraging homeowners to consider the benefits of a tankless hot water heater, which include increased efficiency and savings, advanced system capabilities, and a more convenient supply of hot water.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, homes that use 41 gallons or less of hot water daily can see a 24-34 percent boost in energy efficiency from a tankless system. Homes that use more water can still see an efficiency jump of 8-14 percent.

"Tankless water heaters have really been gaining in popularity over the last few years," said Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. "They're small, compact systems that offer space-saving opportunities when it comes to apartments, offices or small homes. But, one of the biggest benefits is the unit never runs out of hot water. A tankless water heater works in an "on-demand" capacity rather than relying on a reserve. Just turn on the faucet, and you have a continuous supply of hot water."

Other benefits include:

• Save energy: Tankless water heaters can be up to 97 percent efficient, meaning 97 cents of each dollar spent on hot water goes directly towards heating the water.
• No more water tank: Units hang on the wall leaving more space in your basement.
• Endless hot water: Hot water gets heated once the fixture is turned on, unlike a tank that will eventually run out.
• Heat your home with tankless, too: tankless, on-demand boilers are becoming popular as well.

"The energy efficiency of a tankless water heater also means updating your system can be more cost effective than you might think," Williams said. "Through the Mass Save program, homeowners could get a rebate of up to $700 for buying a hot water system. A tankless unit can save a homeowner money in the long run, but rebates can make it a win-win situation from the get-go."
