EO Detroit, MMA Champ Urijah Faber Team Up to Support Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program
DETROIT, April 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit chapter of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), a global network of more than 11,000 business owners in 48 countries, is pleased to announce they're teaming up with former MMA champion, Urijah Faber, for an event on April 21, 2016 to benefit the Downtown Boxing Gym and their Youth Program.
The event, which will be held on-site at the Downtown Boxing Gym, will feature an educational and fun afternoon with UFC fighter, Urijah Faber. The day will begin with Urijah sharing lessons on personal branding and self-promotion - lessons he's utilized to go from unknown collegiate wrestler to world famous MMA Champion and successful businessman.
After his talk, Urijah will work with the kids in the Youth Program to demonstrate and teach the different boxing techniques that have helped him become a champion.
As an organization that helps local entrepreneurs learn and grow, EO Detroit understands the importance of paying those lessons forward to the local youth of the city.
"We're excited about the opportunity to help support a great organization like the Downtown Boxing Gym. And, most importantly, being able to connect the local youth with a professional fighter, like Urijah, who's been successful in and out of the ring," said Wesley Mathews, Board Member, EO Detroit.
The Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program (DBG) is a free after school educational resource for Detroit Youth. The nonprofit develops good citizenship in urban youth through a demanding boxing program in addition to strong academic support and a connection to the community through voluntary service. To date, they boast a 100% high school graduation rate and most of those students go on to college.
