ESG Lab Report Validates Business Value of Built-in CA ARCserve Backup Features

ISLANDIA, N.Y., March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA (Nasdaq: CA) today announced that an Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) Lab Report* validated powerful CA ARCserve® Backup capabilities including data deduplication, Media Assure verification and storage resource management (SRM), highlighting ease-of-use, backup and restore performance and storage capacity savings.

In the CA-commissioned study, ESG Lab tested ease of use and effectiveness of CA ARCserve Backup's built-in data deduplication capabilities, concluding that it was extremely easy to configure and manage and documenting that they were able to implement and reduce backup capacity in less than three minutes.

The tests also showed significant capacity savings, finding that "CA ARCserve Backup deduplication reduced disk capacity required to store backups by 95% over 30 days."

ESG also noted that some other vendors charge a premium for similar features, which are included in CA ARCserve Backup r12.5 at no extra charge.

The report also found CA ARCserve Backup's Media Assure feature "can be easily configured to regularly examine backup data" and verify that it can be read successfully. "This policy-based feature assures administrators and managers that backed-up data is ready to restore when it is needed without manual intervention."
