Chair KW Chang captains first flight on new nonstop route
HOUSTON, June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EVA Air Chairman KW Chang was captain in charge of an inaugural nonstop Taipei-Houston flight with a brand-new specially painted Boeing 777-300ER on Friday, June 19, 2015. The airline tailored its new plane for Texas, named it the EVA Air Hello Kitty Shining Star Jet and equipped it with inflight Wi-Fi and global roaming. With just one stop in Taipei, Houston passengers can now connect on to almost every business and leisure destination in Asia, including Mainland China. EVA and Sanrio painted the new Hello Kitty Shining Star Jet with colorful, Texas-sized Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, flying through the skies with their pet teddy bear while Hello Kitty and My Melody happily ride on their own stars. It is EVA's seventh specially painted plane and its second using a long-range Boeing 777-300ER. EVA created a different design for each Hello Kitty Jet and flies the other six from Taiwan to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Guam and Paris.
EVA is launching Houston-Taipei flight BR51 on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and adding Wednesday service on July 8, 2015. It is flying Taipei-Houston BR52 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and starting Tuesday trips on July 7, 2015. EVA will use a Boeing 777-300ER in standard livery for the fourth weekly flight. It will extend Hello Kitty Shining Star Jet service Taipei-Singapore on June 21, 2015.
