SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Evercar, a provider of shared vehicles and support for rideshare and delivery drivers has expanded to the Bay Area, with locations in San Francisco and Oakland. The service helps drivers qualify for jobs in the on-demand economy by giving them flexible access to affordable, environmentally-friendly vehicles, with no weekly or long-term commitment required. Evercar's training and support helps workers navigate the rapidly changing on-demand space to maximize their earning potential and help ensure their success as on-demand workers.
"The Bay Area presents an interesting dichotomy that Evercar is uniquely poised to address. The proliferation of on-demand companies means flexible job opportunities abound; however, many who would most benefit from these jobs are unable to take advantage of them because they lack financial means to own a vehicle and pay out-of-pocket for expenses, don't want to deal with the hassle and cost of parking in the city, or simply would prefer not to put miles on their personal vehicle," said Evercar CEO Michael Brylawski. "We're changing the paradigm by combining car sharing with well-maintained electrified vehicles and data. In doing so, we're able to offer a highly flexible yet affordable solution that puts drivers behind the wheel of safe, environmentally-friendly vehicles, while coaching them to earn as much as possible."
Evercar's shared vehicles are pre-approved for major rideshare and on-demand delivery platforms including Uber, Lyft, Postmates and DoorDash, and feature the latest connectivity and safety technology to aid drivers. Members of its Bay Area driver community receive access to use Evercar vehicles on an hourly basis for the approved on-demand services of their choice. Evercar's $8 hourly rate covers fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs for unlimited miles. It also includes driver training, 24/7 phone support, a SafeDrive program to help ensure safety for drivers, and data-based coaching to help drivers make optimal decisions on when to drive based on their needs.
"As a single mom, I knew driving for Lyft of Uber could give me the flexibility I needed to earn extra income to support my family, but my vehicle wouldn't pass their inspection because it's too old," said Evercar member Jennifer Cascante, a Los Angeles resident. "When I found Evercar, it was an ideal solution -- I was able to start earning money, working whenever I want, and the flexibility is great because I also work as a singer. They also really helped me, as someone new to Lyft, figure out the best ways to earn more by taking advantage of referral bonuses and giving me tips and advice."
In the Bay Area, Evercar offers access to shared 2016 Toyota Prius vehicles, located at the Turk Street Garage in San Francisco and in Downtown Oakland, near the 12th Street BART station. Drivers can apply for Evercar on myevercar.com. Once approved they're able to use Evercar's mobile app to reserve vehicles, gain keyless access, and, soon, receive coaching tips. The company plans to add electric vehicles to its fleet, in addition to expanding to additional Bay Area locations this year.
"The major rideshare services have reported a high number of their applicants lack access to a qualifying vehicle, and we believe this is a particularly significant trend in the Bay Area, given parking challenges and the high cost of living," Brylawski said. "We selected our first San Francisco and Oakland vehicle locations because there is strong rideshare and delivery demand in these areas, and because they offer easy access to public transit. We hope this helps ensure that anyone, regardless of whether or not they own a vehicle, has the opportunity to participate – and thrive – in the on-demand economy."
The Evercar service launched in Los Angeles in 2015, offers its more than 1,200 members access to over 100 shared vehicles in 13 vehicle hubs around Los Angeles county, with plans for continued expansion. To-date its members have driven more than one million miles and logged more than 100,000 hours. Evercar currently has financing available to acquire up to 3,000 new vehicles in the coming year.
Evercar empowers on-demand drivers to succeed by providing affordable access to a pool of safe, environmentally-friendly vehicles, and equipping them with tools, training, and support to maximize their profitability. Evercar is headquartered in Los Angeles, with additional offices in San Francisco. The executive team together brings decades of advanced fuel vehicle and fleet experience to the company's operations and client work.
