EverFi CEO Tom Davidson Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2013 Greater Washington, DC Award Winner

WASHINGTON, June 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EverFi, Inc., the leader in critical skills education, today announced that its founder and CEO, Tom Davidson, has been named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 Greater Washington, DC Award winner. The awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate success and excellence in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Winners were recognized at an awards gala on June 20 in McLean, Virginia. In 2012, Davidson was also recognized by Goldman Sachs as one of the Top 100 Entrepreneurs of the year at the Builders & Innovators Summit in Newport Beach, California.

Davidson's career began in public service when he was elected, while still in college, to the Maine State Legislature.  He served three terms working to bring education technology to students across the state, led a successful effort with Governor Angus King to provide laptops to every Maine seventh grader and created a major expansion of the wiring of schools and libraries across the State. During his tenure, Davidson witnessed public schools struggling with challenging problems including financial education, digital literacy, alcohol abuse and other key areas that affect student performance. 

Davidson, along with co-founders Jon Chapman and Ray Martinez, launched EverFi in 2008 with a focus on mobilizing the private sector to address these issues at scale by using innovative technology to engage the millennial generation and help schools meet growing standards and unfunded mandates.  Just five years later, EverFi's learning platforms are used in more than 5000 K-12 schools and over 500 colleges and universities.  In addition, EverFi has partnered with hundreds of companies, foundations and community-based organizations to power its national education movement.  To date, EverFi has certified over 5.5 million students in critical skills areas.
