Examiner.com and AmericanTowns.com Partner to Enhance Community Content
DENVER, April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Examiner.com and AmericanTowns.com have entered into a reciprocal relationship that deepens the community information available to Examiner.com users, while broadening local news and commentary on AmericanTowns.com sites.
Examiner.com has enhanced its hyperlocal news offering by adding an AmericanTowns.com Community Information widget to each of its 244 local edition web sites. The widget brings users to a co-branded American Towns page with a plethora of meaningful information including hyperlocal events and local resources – from restaurants, real estate and town facts to youth sports registration deadlines and the nearest farmer's market.
"We have always seen ourselves as being the one stop shop for everything local, and this partnership furthers that mission," said Rick Blair, CEO of Examiner.com. "As the local and hyperlocal online news and information arena continues to heat up, we are glad to team up with an established leader in providing quality community content. American Towns has a depth and breadth of information at the town level that is an excellent complement to the original and high quality content our local Examiners already provide."
At the same time, AmericanTowns.com is including articles by Examiners — knowledgeable and passionate local contributors — in the News and Announcements sections of its hyperlocal sites in 15,000 towns across the country. This includes a wide range of stories – from breaking news, crime and sports updates, to restaurant reviews, tips on the best yoga instructors or local views on the latest health trends.
"We are pleased to enhance the content we offer all of our communities by featuring thousands of Examiners with insights into locally relevant areas of interest," said Ted Buerger, Chairman, AmericanTowns.com. "Our users are sure to appreciate the additional perspectives of these passionate, local insiders, and their take on issues within the community."
