Exelon Generation Announces Executive Promotions, Realignment

WARRENVILLE, Ill., May 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charles "Chip" Pardee, president and chief nuclear officer of Exelon Nuclear and senior vice president, Exelon Generation since 2007, has been promoted to chief operating officer of Exelon Generation, the company announced today as part of a senior executive realignment within Exelon Generation, LLC.

Pardee will have overall responsibility for Exelon Generation's power generation fleet, which includes the Exelon Nuclear and Exelon Power business units. In his new role, Pardee will continue to drive safety, reliability and asset optimization for Exelon Generation. Pardee will report to Christopher M. Crane, president and COO, Exelon Corporation and president, Exelon Generation.

Michael Pacilio, senior vice president and COO, Exelon Nuclear, has been promoted to president and chief nuclear officer, Exelon Nuclear and senior vice president, Exelon Generation. Pacilio takes over responsibility for the largest fleet of commercial nuclear energy plants in the U.S. and third largest in the world. Exelon Nuclear produces nearly 20% of nuclear-generated electricity in America. Pacilio will report to Pardee.

Doyle Beneby, senior vice president, Exelon Power, has been promoted to president, Exelon Power. Beneby oversees the operations of the company's natural gas, coal, hydroelectric and renewable generating assets in Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Texas that produce nearly 8,000 megawatts of electricity. He will report to Pardee.

Susan Landahl, senior vice president in charge of Exelon Nuclear's Midwest operations, will be promoted to chief operating officer and senior vice president, Exelon Nuclear. She will have oversight of the company's 17 reactors in Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with a generating capacity of more than 17,600 megawatts of electricity. She will report to Pacilio.

Pardee has been central to the continued improvement of Exelon Nuclear's operations, which has consistently led the U.S. nuclear industry in cost, capacity factors and refueling outage duration. Pardee previously served in senior executive roles with responsibilities for diverse disciplines, including engineering, nuclear fuels, project management, outages, training and security. He also had operational responsibility for a dozen commercial U.S. nuclear stations at various times in his career.

Pardee is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute's Nuclear Strategic Issues Advisory Committee, the National Academy of Nuclear Training's Accrediting Board and a member of the Electric Power Research Institute. In addition, Pardee is on the Board of the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association. Pardee is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

Pacilio, an engineer with nearly 30-years of service with the company, has held various senior leadership positions at Exelon Nuclear, including senior vice president of Midwest operations and site vice president and plant manager at several Exelon Nuclear generating plants. He worked on the Unicom/PECO integration team in 2000 that ensured a smooth transition for the nuclear division following the merger that created Exelon. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and completed Harvard University's Advanced Management Program.

Beneby previously served as vice president of operations for Exelon Power and has held senior leadership positions at various utilities, including PECO, Consumers Energy and Florida Power & Light. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Montana Technical College and an MBA from the University of Miami.

Landahl's career spans more than 25 years in the nuclear power industry. She has served in various senior leadership roles within Exelon Nuclear, including senior vice president of operations support, site vice president and plant manager. Prior to joining Exelon, Landahl was a senior reactor operator at Boston Edison Company. She holds a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering/fission reactor technology, and a master's in nuclear engineering/health physics, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a Certified Health Physicist.

In other related promotions, Exelon Nuclear Vice President, Midwest Operations Bryan Hanson will be promoted to senior vice president Midwest operations, Exelon Nuclear. Tim Tulon, site vice president of the Quad Cities Generating Station in Illinois, will assume the role of vice president, Midwest operations. Quad Cities Plant Manager Randy Gideon will be promoted to site vice president.
