Experienced South Florida White Collar Lawyer Robin Ellen Kaplan joins McDonald Hopkins

MIAMI, April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Robin Ellen Kaplan has joined McDonald Hopkins LLC as senior counsel in the business advisory and advocacy law firm's national White Collar and Government Compliance Practice Group. She is based in Miami and will work in the firm's Miami and West Palm Beach offices. Kaplan was formerly an attorney at Markus & Markus, a trial and appellate boutique firm.

Kaplan has an extensive background in complex criminal and regulatory defense litigation involving white collar and antitrust matters, in state and federal courts in Florida and around the country. At McDonald Hopkins, she will be joining an experienced and growing team that includes former federal and state prosecutors who have spent decades practicing in the white collar area. "Robin is an extremely talented criminal defense attorney with impeccable credentials. Kaplan has acted as lead trial lawyer in a variety of trials, most recently successfully obtaining an acquittal for an attorney in a complex mortgage fraud case in the Southern District of Florida. In addition, she co-tried a groundbreaking case in which the defense secured an acquittal of all 141 counts against a medical doctor.

Kaplan is chair of the National Women's White Collar Defense Group of South Florida and is a member of the Federal Bar Association's South Florida Chapter, where she serves on the board and is chair of the women's committee.

Kaplan earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami where she was an editor for the International and Comparative Law Review, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Florida State University.
