Experienced Trial Lawyers Kent Goss and Valerie Goo Join Crowell & Moring's Litigation Group in Los Angeles

Both lawyers join the firm from Orrick. Goss most recently served as head of Orrick's Litigation Group in its Los Angeles office. With 30 years of experience, Goss has established a national practice that focuses on trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes. His commercial litigation practice includes the prosecution and defense of contract, real property, and shareholder disputes; fiduciary duty claims; terminations of distributors and sales representatives; and acting as outside counsel in government investigations.

Goo offers more than 20 years of experience. She has significant trial and arbitration experience in intellectual property and commercial litigation matters. Her practice includes handling trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases, as well as complex commercial litigation, unfair competition, false advertising, and class action disputes. 

Both lawyers have developed a strong reputation in IP litigation, including trademark infringement, copyright infringement, patent infringement, defamation, licensing, misappropriation of trade secrets, and right of publicity claims. Their arrival adds to the firm's California litigation and trial capabilities in representing plaintiffs and defendants in the courtroom.

Goss' clients have included Fortune 100 and 500 companies, equity funds, consumer electronics companies, professional athletes, actors, entertainment companies, toy companies, clothing companies and department stores, start-up companies, technology-based companies, manufacturing concerns, and homeowners' associations. Goss represented NFL star Tom Brady for violations of his right of publicity resulting in multiple settlements before an answer was filed. He also represented Royce Gracie, one of the most renowned fighters in Mixed Martial Arts, in a dispute between fight promoters.

Goss received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his B.S., cum laude, from Occidental College. Goo earned her J.D. and her B.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition to her law practice, Goo serves as Treasurer of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers for the Los Angeles Chapter. Goss and Goo have been recognized by the World Trademark Review in its 1000 Leading Trademark Professionals list since its inception in 2013.
