SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Extra Space Storage Inc. closed out 2014 with a social media campaign that turned the focus off storage as a product and put a spotlight on storage as a place for memories and life stories. With the hashtag #MemoriesLiveHere, Extra Space Storage invited its social media communities to share images and anecdotes about the invaluable possessions they keep within their storage units. Results from the campaign were the best of any social initiative the brand has run to date. The campaign received more than 1,000 submissions. Around 120,000 people were reached by both the campaign and the new video created to showcase the entries.

For the campaign, Extra Space Storage asked its customers, "What possession means the most to you?" The responses varied from funny to touching, and they're shown in the video: "We Don't Store Your Items, We Protect Your Memories with Safe Storage." It's available on Facebook and YouTube. The video features emotional content from customers, but the #MemoriesLiveHere campaign also contains a heartfelt message from Extra Space Storage: "If it matters to you, it matters to us."

Extra Space Storage takes several steps to help protect memories for customers. In addition to providing clean, brightly lit storage facilities, the company offers security measures like video surveillance, electronic gates with coded access and fully fenced perimeters.
