FAIR Mourns the Passing of Edith Blodgett, Long-Time Board Member

WASHINGTON, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) mourns the loss of Edith Blodgett, who served on FAIR's Board of Directors from 2006 to 2009 and as a member of FAIR's Board of Advisors for more than two decades. More importantly, she was a dear friend to many who have worked for true immigration reform in the United States. Throughout her life, Mrs. Blodgett was a dedicated philanthropist who devoted her energies and resources to making America and the world a better place.

Edith was the widow of John Blodgett, a lumber magnate from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Like her late husband, Edith was committed to giving back to her country and ensuring that future generations of Americans could enjoy a high quality of life. Her devotion to family planning and population stabilization led her to the cause of immigration reform and to FAIR. Edith recognized the need to curb rapid, immigration-fueled population growth in order to preserve America's environment and conserve our nation's resources.

In addition to her work with FAIR, Edith was an important patron of the arts in her hometown of Grand Rapids. Among other philanthropic endeavors, Edith and her late husband were involved in a variety of causes designed to benefit children in Michigan.
