fal has acquired Lucent, an AI agent-based platform for creative media, bringing its two founders in-house as the company invests in the exceptional builders shaping the future of generative media.

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimi Panagiotopoulos Lucent's Co-founder and CTO, is a blend of engineer and creative technologist. By the age of 21 he had built and shipped energy optimisation algorithms running on eight Formula 1 cars on the racing grid, and he has been a content creator since 13, producing videos that have reached millions of views. He went on to build an LLMOps product, work sitting directly at the intersection of large-scale AI systems and creative output.

Alex Koumpas, Co-founder and CEO, is an engineer and operator with a habit of getting to hard technical frontiers early and building where the value concentrates. A former quantitative trader at a multibillion-dollar hedge fund and pro track and field athlete, he built and sold an AI-driven quant trading startup to one of the fastest growing FinTech companies before turning to generative media.

Together they built Lucent into a unique agentic creative platform that reached more than 16,000 active creators generating more than 75,000 assets within just three weeks of its November 2025 launch, surpassing 30,000+ users shortly after. They built it in advertising, one of the most demanding domains in generative media, where high volume, strict brand requirements, and a hard bar for real-world performance leave little room for error. When Lucent launched, nothing else in the creator space worked the way it did: rather than handing users another canvas of tools to operate, it let them brief an agent in plain language and orchestrated the models, edits, and brand rules behind the scenes, an approach most of the market has only recently begun moving toward.
