After graduating from Santa Fe's Capital High School with Honors, Leon Lopez attended New Mexico State University, where he earned Bachelor's degrees in Business Management and Economics, both with Honors. Following graduation, Lopez joined the firm of Waddell & Reed, Inc., as a Financial Advisor. There, he obtained three securities licenses (series 6, series 63, and series 65), as well as an insurance license (Life, Accident, and Health Insurance). In 2009, Lopez accepted a position as a Financial Advisor and Insurance Agent with New York Life.
Having lost his biological father to addiction in 2008, Leon Lopez developed a keen personal interest in behavioral healthcare. "I wanted to do more than donate time and money," says Lopez. "I left the investment and insurance industry, thinking I wanted to become a therapist, but somehow I always found my way back to finance." In 2010, Lopez took a position with the Christus St Vincent Sobering Center/Care Connection, then one with the Christus St Vincent Department of Community Health. At the same time, Lopez pursued further education in both finance and behavioral health. He received his Masters in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 2013, and his Masters in Business Administration from NMHU in 2014.
Following his work with Christus St Vincent, Leon Lopez worked for the State of New Mexico Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD) as their Quality Improvement Manager. In 2014, Lopez was promoted to Deputy Director of Finance and Contracts, as well as Chief Financial Officer of the Behavioral Health Collaborative.
"We at Falling Colors Technology are excited to have Leon join us," says Pamela Koster, Falling Colors Technology's Chief Executive Officer. "His unique combination of in-depth financial knowledge and experience in behavioral health systems will strengthen our business and allow us to explore new opportunities."
Leon Lopez lives in Santa Fe with his wife, Danielle, and their son, David. Lopez enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.
