FamilyWize "Shares the Love" with Valentine's Day e-Card that Delivers Heart Medication Savings to Consumers
National community service partnership launches initiative to help raise awareness of heart health and savings during American Heart Month
Saved 350,000+ consumers more than $29M on heart medications in 2015
BETHLEHEM, Pa., Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FamilyWize, a community service partnership focused on improving the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities, today launched its "Share the Love" campaign in support of American Heart Month.
According to the American Heart Association, an estimated 85.6 million people in the U.S. are living with cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and chest pain. However, fewer Americans have been dying of heart disease and stroke since the 1980s thanks to progress in medical therapies and lifestyle changes that help curb risk.
The FamilyWize campaign encourages everyone to share the gift of heart health and savings through a special edition, shareable Valentine's Day e-card that can be accessed at www.FamilyWize.org/SharetheLove today through February 15th. In addition, FamilyWize will be sharing tips and advice for better heart health and savings on its social media accounts using #SharetheLove throughout the month.
The "Share The Love" Valentine's Day e-card includes the FamilyWize Prescription Savings Card, which in 2015 saved more than 350,000 people more than $29M on heart medications, an average savings of over 35%. The card also provides an average of 43% savings off of prescription medication retail prices (based on 2015 data). Recipients can print the FamilyWize card directly, or download the free app.
"American Heart Month and Valentine's Day offer a great opportunity for sharing and caring in a positive and fun way," said Joseph Sanginiti, President of FamilyWize. "We believe that the cost of medication should never be an obstacle to good health – and that people should not have to choose between paying for basic necessities and filling their prescription medications. Our 'Share the Love' initiative is all about showing you care and we think that sharing the opportunity to save and be healthy is one of the best ways you can do that."
According to the Commonwealth Fund, 64 million people without enough insurance coverage were at risk in 2014, both financially and physically, from untreated medical conditions. For those individuals, the FamilyWize e-card is more than a sign of affection; it's a gift of health and savings that can make a real difference.
As of December 2015, FamilyWize has helped more than 9 million people save more than $950 million dollars on prescription medications through its free Prescription Savings Card and downloadable app.
