Farm Fresh To You CSA Service Expands To San Diego Market

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Farm Fresh To You (www.farmfreshtoyou.com), the local, organic Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), announced today that it has expanded its home delivery service to the San Diego area.

Farming organically since 1976, Farm Fresh To You started its CSA in 1992.  Farm Fresh To You delivers 100% certified organic produce to homes and offices. The Farm Fresh To You model allows customers to pick their own box type, box size and delivery frequency. 

Farm Fresh To You grows produce in the Imperial Valley and partners with a network of local, trusted farms to create its produce boxes. Farm Fresh To You also delivers produce to homes in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties and in the Sacramento region.

"Duplicating our business model in San Diego made perfect sense," said farmer and co-CEO Thaddeus Barsotti. "We've been farming in the Imperial Valley since 2009 and that farm is closer to San Diego than to our initial Southern California delivery area in Los Angeles. We know that the San Diego communities are health conscious and support farmers, and we are thrilled to start delivery to homes in this area."

Box types include:  Mixed fruits and vegetables, No Cooking, Valley (local farms only), Veggie Only and Fruit Only. Box charges are $25 for a small box and $31.50 for a regular box. Larger boxes are available for certain box types. Customers can exclude items they would rather not receive.

To kick off the San Diego delivery announcement, Farm Fresh To You will hold a farm tour on Saturday, Oct. 19, at its longtime partner farm Stehly Farms Organics in Valley Center.

Farm tour activities include pumpkin harvesting (one per visitor while supplies last), pumpkin decorating, tractor-tram tours, an urban homesteading lecture and a farm talk. A farm animal petting zoo will also be on site.

There will be an organic produce market stand where guests can also buy farm fresh produce in bulk and a taco truck selling food. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and spend the afternoon. Admission is $5 per adult. Kids 12 and under are free.

From I-15 South, go east on Old Castle Road
Turn left on Lilac Road (go ~5 miles)
Turn right on Santa Catalina Road (you will see a sign that says "Stehly Farms Organics")
When the road forks, stay straight (going past the tank with the "Stehly Farms" sign)
Follow signs toward event parking
