Farmers Insurance Group Federal Credit Union Donates $27,000 To The Farmers Family Fund

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Last November and December, Farmers Insurance Group Federal Credit Union (FIGFCU) and its members came together to raise $27,000 for the Farmers Family Fund over the holiday season. Right before the start of the busiest shopping season, FIGFCU launched "Give with a Simple Swipe", a campaign that encouraged members to use their debit card, where every purchase was rounded up to the nearest dollar and automatically transferred to the member's designated account. While members saved the change in their accounts, FIGFCU matched that amount 100% and donated it to the Farmers Family Fund.

The Credit Union initially planned to match up to $20,000 in total transactions at the time; however the amount of transactions equated to over $26,000 at the end of the campaign. For that reason, FIGFCU President/CEO Mark Herter decided to add an additional $7,000 to the original donation, making the total contribution $27,000.

The Farmers Family Fund is a program designed to provide relief to Farmers employees and their families who are victims of disasters or who have encountered a severe financial hardship.

This is the Credit Union's second partnership with the Farmers Family Fund.  Last year FIGFCU donated $10,000 to the Fund. To date, FIGFCU has donated $37,000 to the Farmers Family Fund.
