LOS ANGELES, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Having recently awarded the first round of grants worth $75,000 to 30 teachers across the United States, Farmers Insurance is urging America's teachers to submit their proposals for their chance to win a grant during the next round of the "Thank A Million Teachers" award program prior to the April 30 deadline.
The "Thank A Million Teachers" program, launched by Farmers in late December, has been urging America to thank teachers, present and past, for the positive impact they have had in communities across the nation. It has also invited teachers to submit proposals for grants valued at up to $2,500 on the www.ThankAMillionTeachers.com website.
"Farmers just awarded grants to 30 teachers in April and we're ready to invite the public to start voting for the next round of teacher submissions in May, but first, teachers must submit their proposals at www.ThankAMillionTeachers.com by April 30 so they can be considered for a $2,500 grant," said Randy Rice, National Manager of Education Programs for Farmers Insurance. "The submission process is easy and teachers from schools large and small are eligible."
Since the start of the program just a few short months ago, the dedicated web site has gathered nearly 500,000 thank yous in support of teachers across teachers, far ahead of its plan to garner at least one million thank yous by year end.
"America's response to our Thank A Million Teachers program has been phenomenal and teachers across the nation have been humbled by the outpouring of thanks and recognition they have been receiving," said Rice. "That said, there are still more teachers to thank and we want more teachers to submit their proposals so they get their chance to win grants to help with their classroom needs."
During May, Farmers will invite the public to vote on the next round of proposals at the www.ThankAMillionTeachers.com website, with 30 additional winners to be announced in June. In all, Farmers has committed to donating $1 million to teachers and education programs in 2014. Voting in the next round will continue through May 31 with the public invited to vote for as many proposals as they'd like, although they can vote for the same proposal only once per day.
Farmers announced the launch of the Thank A Million Teachers program in late December at a special event featuring Jack Black, who thanked his former teacher Debbie Devine, who he credited with saving his life. Several days later, Farmers brought additional attention to its campaign to thank educators across America with its Thank A Million Teachers New Year's Day float in the Tournament of Roses parade.
The ThankAMillionTeachers.com website is continuously accepting the public's thank yous and posts a live tally of the number of thank yous received so far. It is also the place where teachers can submit their grant proposals for the next round of voting.
