Farmers Insurance Signs Commitment of Support for Service Members in the National Guard and Reserve

LOS ANGELES, July 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Farmers Insurance, the largest insurer headquartered in Los Angeles, today signed a statement of support with the Department of Defense office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), committing to seeking ways to increase opportunities for Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans. Roy Smith, President of Farmers Exclusive Agent Distribution, signed on behalf of the national, multiline insurance company.

The Statement of Support confirms that Farmers Insurance will:

Fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA);
Provide its managers and supervisors with the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve;
Honor the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans; and
Continually recognize and support the nation's service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

Joining Smith in signing the ESGR statement of support was Mr. Paul Mock, ESGR National Chair.

Tom LaBonge, Los Angeles City Councilmember, also offered his support to the signing ceremony and reminded attendees of the City's recently announced effort to secure jobs for 10,000 veterans over the next several years.
