Fashion Brand Next Gear up for Elle Style Awards 2012 Tonight

With the prestigious Elle Style Awards 2012, in association with Next, underway tonight, the British fashion retailer is looking forward to reporting back live to fashion lovers throughout the evening. From who's wearing what designer dresses to which celebrities are up for each award.

Hot SS12 trends that will be gracing the London catwalk are likely to be fresh sorbet tones, pretty icecream pastels and ikat tribal prints. Lace still has a strong influence whilst sports luxe and clashing prints slowly make their way into the fashion scene too; with designs including vintage Americana, 1920s flapper influences and structured peplum shapes. To give an idea of the dresses to look out for, last year's Elle Style Awards saw Courtney Love in flowing lace Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci, Cheryl Cole radiant in a red Alexander McQueen dress and Blake Lively in a blue Emilio Pucci number with hot pink shoes.

Fashionable footwear is key too. Likely to be stepping onto the red carpet this year are a mixture of colour block stilettos, 40s style court shoes and platform style wedges which follow the must-have trends of the season; geometric shapes, loud tropical designs, ethnic inspired prints, retro couture and bold splashes of colour - or of course simply timeless black satin heels.

Elle Style Awards categories range from celebrating emerging and established designer talent, to honouring global Style Icons. Presented by Alexa Chung in an Yves St Laurent dress, last years winner's included Outstanding Contribution to Fashion: Helena Christensen, Best British Designer: Christopher Kane, Top International Designer: Tom Ford, Model Of The Year: Coco Rocha, Best Actress: Natalie Portman, Best TV Star: Blake Lively, Breakthrough Talent: Noomi Rapace and Musician Of The Year: Cheryl Cole. Not to mention the award for Style Icon; which was presented to Emma Watson by Vivienne Westwood.
