BOULDER, Colo., March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TapInfluence (www.tapinfluence.com), the leading influencer marketing platform serving consumer brands and agencies, announced today it has recruited Promise Phelon as its new CEO. Phelon brings extensive experience leading high-growth technology companies in rapidly evolving industries with a history of high-profile exits. Her expertise includes software-as-a-service (SaaS) growth, raising institutional capital, product innovation, and building loyal teams that drive market transformation.
Rustin Banks, TapInfluence's co-founder and former CEO will remain on the board of directors and will assume the role of Chief Product Officer. Banks, who was the original brains behind the company's influencer marketing platform and technology, will focus on strategic opportunities and leading an aggressive product roadmap.
"I joined TapInfluence because of Rustin's pioneering vision and mission to transform the old model of advertising," said Phelon. "The company is growing rapidly because they solve the biggest problem facing marketers today: predictably translating influence into opportunity. Taking a company from an emerging startup to an industry leader is my passion which made leaving Silicon Valley for Boulder, Colorado an exciting proposition."
Phelon was most recently the Chief Revenue Officer of the Resumator leading sales, marketing, business development and customer success. She led the company through successful revenue growth and significant financing. Prior to the Resumator, Phelon was the Founder & CEO of The Phelon Group, a rapid-growth technology-enabled services company that reached eight figure revenues and was acquired in 2009. She also served as CEO of UpMo, an enterprise talent management SaaS system used by some of the world's largest enterprises, where she again drove high-impact growth, substantial financing, and product strategy. Phelon was an early employee at BEA Systems (ORCL) helping to lead product management and product marketing.
"Hitting the bullseye in a rapidly-changing, fast growing industry requires relentless focus and execution, and an obsession for attracting winning talent, which is exactly why we wanted Promise," said Kirk Holland, TapInfluence board member and managing partner with Access Venture Partners, one of the company's investors. "With her background and experience, leading TapInfluence during this next phase of growth was the perfect opportunity for both TapInfluence and Promise."
TapInfluence is the leading SaaS platform licensed by marketers to automate the time-consuming and manual process of finding relevant digital influencers (those with key audiences on blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Vine and SnapChat) and collaborating with them to create meaningful, consumer-trusted content. The cloud-based software provides a single workflow system that enables brands and agencies to co-create branded content with influencers, distribute that content across social platforms and brand sites, and access detailed analytics to measure the actual monetary value and ROI.
"The most powerful tool a marketer can invest in is the one that allows them to harness and scale critical aspects of marketing like automation, customer engagement, and in this case, trust," said Phelon. "The traditional advertising model is broken. The world where marketers depend on distraction and control to win consumers is over. This emerging era is one of trust-based marketing and TapInfluence is the setting the standard for how brands use it to win in their markets," said Phelon.
TapInfluence customers include: Microsoft, Proctor & Gamble, Kraft, Coca-Cola, RedBox, Burts Bees, and hundreds of consumer brands and agencies.
