Father Honors Son by Developing Autism Awareness Month Product
TOLEDO, Ohio, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today it seems like there are products everywhere that proclaim to support a cause. The vast majority of these goods just add a ribbon to their label or change the color of their packaging in hopes of grabbing a consumer's attention. One lucky boy named Britain actually had a product created by his father in honor of his struggle to overcome Autism.
Each year the month of April represents Autism Awareness Month and is kicked off by the "Light It Up BLUE" campaign on April 2nd. Britain's father recognized most methods to show support for this issue were stationary. They involved shining blue lights on major buildings, or by individuals using blue lights on their front porches. Given this limitation he began developing a portable blue autism awareness light that would powerfully shine this message.
Britain's father also knew that if they were going to try and bring this message to the masses then they would need to incorporate it into a product that the masses would want to purchase, not just those who were directly affected by autism. The last challenge was to create a product that would be used in social settings, which would allow the light to be seen by large groups and to spur conversations about the product and its purpose. After reviewing all of his ideas, a glowing ice cooler was born.
The ICE Block Cooler that Britain's father has created is a beautiful work of art that proudly shines the autism awareness month color for all to see. The cooler even has their message stamped into the bottom of the product in large print to show their belief in this cause. The next step in their journey was to become officially licensed Autism Speaks Merchandise so that they could be an ambassador for this cause. As they were launching their new product in late 2012 they received word that Autism Speaks had accepted the ICE Block Cooler. 10% of all merchandise with the Autism Speaks logo will be donated to this wonderful organization.
Currently 1 in 88 children get diagnosed with autism. This growing epidemic touches so many families and pushes their emotional and financial resources to the brink. Please consider lighting it up blue this April to show your support for this cause.
