Faurecia and its employees team up to squash hunger in North America during 2012 'FUELS' challenge

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Faurecia North America (http://www.faurecia.com) this week kicked off its third annual Community Food Drive as part of its corporate-giving initiative, FUELS – Faurecia Unites with Employees for Local Service. Throughout September, Faurecia employees will collect non-perishable food items to help fight hunger in local communities where the company has a presence.

In its third year, FUELS unites the charitable efforts of more than 17,000 Faurecia employees from the company's 45 locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. During September 2011, Faurecia employees donated more than 307,000 pounds of non-perishable food for local food banks across North America – more than double the amount than in its inaugural year. Since 2010, Faurecia and its employees have provided more than half a million meals to neighbors in need.

DeWayne Wells, president of Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. In addition to donating food, Faurecia employees will participate in volunteer days with their partner food banks.

To foster team spirit and giving, Faurecia sites compete throughout the month of September to collect the most pounds of food per person per site. For each site that meets its collection goal, the company pledges to contribute $500 to the site's local food bank partner. The site that collects the most food per person each week will receive an extra $1,000 donation for its food bank. Faurecia is further pledging $5,000 for one site in the U.S./Canada and one site in Mexico that collects the most pounds of food per person.
