Faurecia Employees Will Fuel Local Food Banks Through New Corporate-Wide Giving Initiative Across North America
Through its FUELS program, Faurecia aims to encourage team spirit and pride among employees while they serve the community
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Auburn Hills, Mich.-based tier one automotive supplier Faurecia (http://www.faurecia.com) today announced it has launched a focused corporate giving initiative to further support the communities where it has a presence throughout North America. The initiative, FUELS (Faurecia Unites with Employees for Local Service), will involve more than 9,000 Faurecia employees in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
The FUELS program will bring together Faurecia's employees – from top executives to teams working on the assembly plant floor to product innovation experts – to supplement their ongoing individual giving efforts. The goal of the program is to actively contribute to the fight against hunger. Each of Faurecia's 34 sites throughout North America will collect non-perishable food items to donate to its food bank of choice, where employees will also spend time volunteering.
To encourage team spirit and giving, Faurecia has challenged employees to compete in collecting the highest amount of non-perishable food items per person for their sites. Each site that meets its collection goal will receive $500 for its local food bank. The site that collects the most pounds per person in the U.S./Canada and in Mexico each will receive $5,000 for its local food bank.
As part of the program, Faurecia is partnering with Gleaners Community Food Bank (http://www.gcfb.org) for all Faurecia sites located in Southeastern Michigan. In 2009 Gleaners distributed more than 30 million pounds of emergency food to more than 467 soup kitchens, shelters and pantries throughout Southeastern Michigan. Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 96 cents for food and food programs. With one dollar alone, the organization can provide a hungry individual with three meals.
"Faurecia believes it is important to preserve the company's tradition of service to both the industry and community as we strive to develop innovative products, contribute to an advanced workforce and support charitable efforts," said Mike Heneka, president of Faurecia North America. "Through the FUELS program, we are committed to building a focused corporate-wide giving initiative and delivering lasting value to the communities we are proud to serve in the U.S., Canada and Mexico."
Faurecia participates in a variety of ongoing service and volunteer initiatives through its business groups and individual team members. These include charitable partnerships, educational sponsorships, blood drives, donation efforts and other activities.
