Free Training for NYC Home Care Jobs with Flexible Hours & Locations
NEW YORK, March 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fedcap (http://www.fedcap.org) provides free Home Health Aide training and offers home care jobs in New York.
Demand for Home Health Aides increases every day. Fedcap, a 75-year-old nonprofit, trains qualified candidates and helps them get their New York State certification – and jobs. The only cost is a $40 book fee.
"Our 400 Home Health Aides already care for hundreds of elderly, disabled and recuperating patients in the comfort of patients' own homes," says Aisha Lucas, Fedcap's Vice President for Home Care Services. "Demand for Home Health Aides increases every day, and we need to train and hire more aides to meet that demand.
"Working as a Fedcap Home Health Aide is a great way to start or re-start a career," Lucas said. "Our free training lasts three weeks and covers all the basic essentials, as well as special needs such as Alzheimer's, Dementia, Stroke/CVA and hospice care.
"Fedcap also hires aides who are already certified," she added. "Our Home Health Aides have flexible hours and locations. Many advance their skills through our in-service training and by continuing on to become a medical assistant, LPN or Registered Nurse. We also have live-in opportunities. At the moment, we have a particular need for bilingual aides who speak English plus Spanish, Russian, Cantonese or Mandarin."
To be eligible for Fedcap's free Home Health Aide training and employment, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card, provide proof of residency, read at or above 6th-grade level, and undergo a free physical, drug-screening and criminal background check.
Fedcap Home Care will host an open house for interested candidates on Thursday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fedcap's offices, 211 West 14th Street (near Seventh Avenue) in New York, NY. No appointment is necessary. Applicants should bring their original, unlaminated Social Security card, proof of current address, a government-issued photo ID and/or proof of citizenship or work eligibility, three personal references, and names, addresses and phone numbers of last three employers (if applicable).
