FedMSB Announces Formation of the National Digital Dollar Committee (NDDC) to Advance AmeriUSD

Newly established industry committee will coordinate the development of AmeriUSD — The Digital Dollar System — for the next generation of U.S. payments, remittances and settlement.

NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federal Money Services Business Association (FedMSB) today announced the formation of the National Digital Dollar Committee (NDDC), a dedicated industry committee established to coordinate the development of AmeriUSD — The Digital Dollar System, a next-generation digital dollar infrastructure initiative for U.S. payments, remittances and settlement.

The announcement follows FedMSB's September 22 introduction of AmeriUSD and represents the next institutional step in establishing the organizational, technical and industry framework supporting its long-term development.

NDDC will serve as a principal industry coordination body within the FedMSB ecosystem for AmeriUSD, bringing together the U.S. money services business (MSB) sector, financial institutions, payment companies, fintech firms, digital infrastructure providers and other stakeholders involved in the modernization of dollar-based payment infrastructure.

AmeriUSD — The Digital Dollar System

AmeriUSD is being developed as a digital dollar system designed for the next generation of U.S. payments, remittances and settlement.

The initiative is intended to establish a shared infrastructure framework through which U.S. MSBs and other participating financial service providers can support more efficient, interoperable and compliant digital payments and settlement.

Its development will be informed by the operational requirements of the U.S. MSB sector, applicable federal and state regulatory frameworks, financial infrastructure standards and the continuing evolution of payment technology.

Building the MSB 2.0 Infrastructure Layer

NDDC will coordinate industry work involving the application of AmeriUSD across payments, remittances, foreign exchange and cross-border settlement, with particular emphasis on interoperability between existing financial networks and next-generation digital payment infrastructure.

The Committee will coordinate with FedMSB's existing standards bodies, including the Stablecoin Standards Authority (SSA).

SSA will continue to focus on technical, governance, transparency and related industry standards for stablecoins, while NDDC will address the broader institutional, operational and infrastructure requirements associated with AmeriUSD and the evolution of digital dollar infrastructure within the U.S. non-bank financial services sector.

Areas of focus are expected to include AML/KYC, sanctions compliance, transaction monitoring, consumer protection, risk management, digital asset custody, cybersecurity, technical interoperability, payment network transparency and cross-institution settlement.

The initiative forms part of FedMSB's broader MSB 2.0 strategy to modernize the infrastructure connecting the U.S. non-bank financial services sector with domestic and global dollar payment networks.

A National Industry Coordination Framework

NDDC expects to announce its initial committee members and industry participation framework in the coming weeks.

The Committee plans to engage with licensed U.S. MSBs, financial institutions, remittance providers, payment companies, digital wallet providers, fintech firms, digital infrastructure providers, industry organizations, policymakers and other stakeholders involved in the future of U.S. payments.

NDDC will also support industry engagement involving digital dollar infrastructure, payment stablecoins, interstate regulatory coordination, technical interoperability and modernization of the U.S. payment and settlement ecosystem.

Through NDDC, FedMSB intends to establish a long-term industry coordination framework connecting regulatory policy, financial infrastructure, payment technology and the operational requirements of the U.S. MSB sector.

AmeriUSD will serve as the digital dollar system at the center of this broader infrastructure strategy.
