Feed the Children Launches 'Take Action' Campaign for Hunger Awareness Month

Encourages "Feeders" to Take 10 Minutes, Give $10 and Tell 10 Friends

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- International hunger relief organization Feed The Children is asking its followers to help launch a social media campaign for National Hunger Awareness Month to provide for even more children and families in need. The request? Take Action. Take 10 minutes to join and follow Feed The Children's Facebook and Twitter accounts, give $10 to help feed children and families, and tell 10 friends.

The campaign is one of many efforts during the month of October to spread awareness about the more than 900 million hungry people worldwide when experts agree there is enough food available to feed the entire population of the world.

By joining, feeding and sharing, "Feeders" will see a glimpse of Feed The Children's daily activities to F.E.E.D. (Food, Education, Essentials and Disaster Relief) across the world including reports from international posts and live updates from domestic distribution events on the Americans Feeding Americans Caravan and other stops made by the fleet of 55 semi tractor-trailers.

Every $10 donation will provide $70 of food for families and children in need. "Feeders" will help to deliver 10 truckloads of food, essentials and Avon products to 4,000 struggling New York City families on Oct. 19 as well as provide funds for backpack distributions to homeless, U.S. students throughout the school year, and serve more than 200,000 meals a day to children in Kenya with the click of a mouse.
