Fenwick Elects Three New Partners Practicing Litigation and Corporate Law

SEATTLE and SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fenwick & West today announced the election of three attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1, 2013. The new equity partners are James Evans, who is based in Seattle, and Ryan Marton and Tyler Newby, who are based in San Francisco. They represent the Corporate and Litigation practices in areas ranging from life science focused capital markets transactions to high technology patent litigation and regulatory and criminal investigations.

James Evans is a member of the firm's Corporate Group. He represents technology and life science companies throughout the west coast in a wide range of corporate matters. He has extensive experience in capital markets transactions and has represented issuers, underwriters and other parties in a variety of public and private offerings of both equity and debt securities. In addition, he regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions and related securities law issues and provides ongoing advice on general corporate compliance, SEC reporting and governance issues. Evans received a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he was a member of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, and a B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Ryan Marton is a member of the firm's Litigation Group. He has significant litigation experience working on matters involving a wide range of technological fields including software, e-commerce and internet-related technologies, medical devices, bio-informatics, semiconductor design and fabrication technologies, materials chemistry and printed electronics. In a recent patent litigation dispute, Marton was a key member of the trial team that obtained a defense jury verdict of non-infringement and invalidity for client Amazon.com. He received a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law where he was Notes Editor of the Hasting Law Review, and a B.A. from the University of San Francisco.

Tyler Newby is a member of the firm's Litigation Group. He represents high technology clients in regulatory and criminal investigations as well as in privacy, intellectual property and complex litigation matters. Newby returned to the firm in January 2011 after serving the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. as a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division's Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Cyber Unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. As a federal prosecutor, Newby investigated and prosecuted complex intellectual property, fraud and Internet-related crimes nationwide, and tried numerous cases to verdict before juries. Newby earned a J.D. from Stanford Law School and served as Notes Editor and Associate Editor of the Stanford Law Review. He earned an A.B. in history from Dartmouth College graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
