FHE Health Partners With Tricare To Help Veterans and Active Military Personnel
The In-Network Agreement Means Greater Access to Quality Behavioral Treatment for This Under-Served Population
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., March 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The behavioral healthcare provider FHE Health has contracted with Tricare East, a health insurance program for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families, in order to help U.S. veterans and those in active duty access high-quality, personalized care for their mental health needs. The move stands to benefit active and retired members of the U.S. military who live on the East Coast. (Tricare East covers U.S. servicemen and women in the Eastern region of the United States.)
Whether it is addiction, PTSD or another mental or behavioral health condition, vets and current members of the U.S. military can now receive personalized treatment covered by insurance, in a program— "Shatterproof"—that FHE Health designed specifically for veterans and first responders. By employing evidence-based therapies, innovative medical services such as neurotherapy, and a comprehensive wellness program, the Shatterproof program addresses the symptoms of PTSD that may be at the root of a drug or alcohol problem or other mental health challenge. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to help patients overcome the trauma-related stressors that may be impeding their mental and physical health, so they can go on to fully recover.
Chief Compliance and Operations Officer Rami Sleiman, who helped to facilitate FHE Health's contract with TRICARE East, said FHE Health began the initiative to contract with Tricare in response to a shortage of comprehensive behavioral health resources for veterans. Currently, only half of returning vets with a mental health condition will receive the help they need, according to a widely accepted statistic, and a study in 2017 found that a lack of mental health services was contributing to alarmingly high suicide rates among vets.
