Final Boss Claims Victory and the Coveted 2010 Halo 3 Championship Title at the Major League Gaming Season Finale in Dallas, Texas

DALLAS and NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Major League Gaming (MLG), the world's largest professional video game league, has crowned Team Final Boss as the 2010 League Champions in its video game pro circuit national championship competition following a tumultuous season filled with shocking upsets and surprise wins. The Dallas event this past weekend was the ultimate in MLG's 2010 nationwide live competition circuit, which staged a platform for professional and amateur players to battle for title glory and up to $700,000 in prizes.

During the two-day tournament, the stakes were high in the battle for the pro circuit Halo 3 national championship title where almost $250,000 dollars was up for grabs. Going into the event, Team Final Boss and Team Instinct were hot contenders with both teams already taking home two key wins worth $80,000 during the 2010 tour.  Final Boss stole the thunder though with an impressive performance, claiming the 2010 official Halo 3 championship title and top seeding for the first event of the 2011 Season.

Four amateur contestants who also fiercely battled in Halo 3 through the season-long nationwide MLG Doritos Pro-Gaming Combine tournament claimed pro status and big cash winnings.  After a rigorous showdown match in Dallas, Team Lunchbox prevailed to take home the season title while Hysteria took home the official Halo Reach FFA title. Four Combine season winners claimed pro status including Adrenaline, Amish Acorns, Calmm and Swiftkill who will begin the 2011 season battling against top ranked players on the pro circuit.

The championship event also featured the first-ever Halo: Reach competition on MLG's Pro Circuit which proved to be a significant fan highlight. Amateur players were given their first chance to compete against the pros in this extremely popular Xbox 360 title which was recently launched to huge market acclaim.  Team UoR SyA clinched the Halo: Reach exhibition champion title. They were undefeated through 10 rounds before they found themselves sitting across from Team Hot Shots in the Championship Final. UoR SyA made short work of Hot Shots and won four straight games across two series to win the title. As Exhibition Champions, UoR SyA won $5,000 and will be the ninth seed at the first 2011 Halo: Reach competition.

The MLG 2010 national championships also played host to a number of additional video game competitions with titles including: Tekken 6 for the PlayStation 3 - a fast-paced fighting game and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii which draws an intensely devoted 'Smasher' fan base. The winners are Anakin for Tekken 6; Ally and Lee Martin as the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Doubles Champions; and Gnes as the 2010 Smash National Champion.

Starcraft 2, the rigorous real-time strategy PC title attracts an extremely passionate player and fan following at MLG's live competitions so tensions ran high for this suspenseful finale. The play off proved to be the most exciting competition of the season as LiquidJinro took home the official first place title.

The Dallas national championship event was the final stop on a challenging seven-city US tour for MLG that celebrates the most talented players in video gaming and brought together tens of thousands of fans. MLG's 2011 Pro Circuit event will debut in the spring of next year.
