Analyst Update: Financial Results, and Agreements

U.S. stocks advanced higher on Friday, April 24, 2015, led by strong first quarter results of major technology heavyweights. The NASDAQ Composite advanced 0.71%, to close at 5,092.09; the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.12%, to finish the day at 18,080.14, and the S&P 500 finished at 2,117.69, up 0.23%. European stocks recovered on Friday, following a disappointing run on previous trading session. Germany's DAX 30 rose 0.74%; France's CAC 40 advanced 0.44%, and London's FTSE 100 gained 0.24% on Friday. Meanwhile, major Asian stock markets fell on Friday as China's securities regulator announced to accelerate approval of initial public offerings in a seeming effort to cool the red hot market. The Shanghai Composite and Japan's Nikkei both closed lower on Friday.
Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (Huntington Bancshares) reported a $16.8 million YoY increase in its net income to $165.9 million in Q1 2015. Diluted EPS for the quarter stood at $0.19 versus $0.17 in the corresponding prior year period.
Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (Itau Unibanco Banco) has scheduled to release its Q1 2015 financial results on May 5, 2015. Earlier in its 2014 earnings release the Company reported net income of R$20.2 billion versus R$15.7 billion in 2013.
Citigroup Inc. (Citigroup) announced its Q1 FY 2015 financial results. Net income stood at $4.8 billion, or $1.51 per diluted share, compared to net income of $3.9 billion, or $1.23 per diluted share, in Q1 FY 2014. Revenues for the quarter stood at $19.7 billion versus $20.2 billion in Q1 FY 2014.
On April 22, 2015, Associated Estates Realty Corporation (Associated Estates) announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously approved a definitive merger agreement under which a real estate fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management ("Brookfield") will acquire all outstanding shares of common stock of Associated Estates for $28.75 per share in cash.
On April 21, 2015, J P Morgan Chase & Co (J P Morgan Chase) reported that Chevron U.S.A. Inc., has signed a multi-year agreement with its Chase Commerce Solutions, the global payment processing, merchant acquiring business of the Company, to handle payment acceptance and processing at Chevron's nearly 8,000 retail locations in the U.S. beginning later this year.
