Winstanley's entrepreneurial journey started rough but quickly corrected as he learned how to pilot his own company. He found a great food tech, business partners, and mentors. He also settled on a name for the company.

"I came up with the name Firebird because it's another name for the phoenix rising up from the ashes," he said, adding that he initially wanted to hide his own story behind the symbolism. He doesn't like doing interviews and talking about his experience, but he's found that the power of his experience is too good not to share.
