SEATTLE, Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers concerned with recent FDA warnings about risky Acetaminophen doses may be reviewing their options, and First Aid Shot Therapy® (F.A.S.T.) Liquid Pain Relief should be on their radar. This new product contains choline salicylate, which can get into the bloodstream up to five times faster than aspirin*[i], helping deliver relief from pain symptoms in minutes.
F.A.S.T. offers a new way to treat pain - with FDA compliant ingredients in an easy to use, one-dose liquid shot. F.A.S.T. contains two active ingredients: 500mg of choline salicylate and 65mg of caffeine. Choline salicylate is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), pain reliever, and fever reducer, while caffeine is a pain reliever aid*[ii], which increases the response rate to painkillers. Choline salicylate's patent was filed in 1962 and it has been safely used in Europe and Asia for many years.
The two active ingredients combined make F.A.S.T. Liquid Pain Relief a safe, effective way to treat pain, including the temporarily relief of headache, muscle pain, toothache, menstrual pain, pain and fever of colds, minor pain of arthritis and temporarily reduces fever. Each 1.35 fl. oz. (40 ml) bottle is a single dose, and may be taken every 3-4 hours if symptoms persist.
"We started F.A.S.T. because we wanted people to be able to take charge of their health in a better way than they've been able to do anytime in the past 50 years," said Mary Page Platerink, co-founder and CEO of First Aid Shot Therapy. "Getting sick never comes at the right time; it's usually while you're at the office or driving in your car, not when you're standing in front of your medicine cabinet, so we wanted to create a product that was a quick, simple, no-mess, convenient, single-dose of relief that gives people control over their health. And that's exactly what we did."
F.A.S.T. Pain Relief is currently available in leading retailers in Seattle, and nationwide on Amazon.com.
Like many other successful companies before it, First Aid Shot Therapy® (F.A.S.T.) was born when two really smart people were introduced and started talking. That conversation was in the Bay Area in 2010, when Mary Page Platerink, former Director of Global Strategy for The Coca-Cola Company, met Dr. Jay Pasricha, M.D., then Head of Gastroenterology at Stanford University. With Mary Page's understanding of consumer behavior and Dr. Pasricha's knowledge of pain and upset stomach treatment, they began talking about products that could deliver fast, effective relief for people's most common ailments. And that's how F.A.S.T. was born. The company operates with the help of a Scientific Advisory Board made up of doctors from Johns Hopkins University and The Mayo Clinic. F.A.S.T. products are made in the U.S.A. at F.A.S.T. Labs, based in Woburn, Mass.
About Choline Salicylate
Choline salicylate (KOE-leen sa-LIS-i-late) is an FDA-approved OTC Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID). It is similar to the active ingredient you would find in aspirin, and in fact belongs to the same salicylate family as aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). However, unlike aspirin, choline salicylate is extremely stable and soluble in liquid solutions. In other words, you won't find aspirin in a liquid solution, only choline salicylate. The combination of this drug with caffeine – which increases the response rate to painkillers – helps make F.A.S.T. Pain Relief effective in treating pain. Both choline salicylate and caffeine are on the FDA Monograph.
