First Aid Supplier HART Health Acquires Competitor and Continues Expansion
Commercial first aid supplier acquires Seattle-based Synergy Logistics' van service and increases customer base
SEATTLE, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- HART Health, a national manufacturer and distributor of commercial first aid supplies, has acquired the van service division of Synergy Logistics, a Seattle-based first aid supply company. The acquisition follows HART's launch of a new franchise system.
Synergy Logistics, Inc. had been providing commercial first aid supplies through a van delivery service to mid-sized Seattle businesses since the early 1990's and was distributing HART Health first aid products. HART will fold Synergy customers into its existing Seattle van service.
"We're focused on expanding our first aid van delivery service and it makes sense for us to take over Synergy's van service," said Larry Shaw, HART Health CEO. "Synergy was already distributing our products and Synergy customers will now get a higher level of customer service and will benefit from our inventory management systems, which could lower their costs."
HART Health manufactures and distributes first aid supplies for the workplace. OSHA requires companies to provide necessary first aid supplies for their employees and most companies outsource management and supply of first aid kits. Outsourcing controls costs and helps companies stay in legal compliance with little effort.
HART Health manufactures its own products and its van service uses a proprietary handheld inventory tracking system that allows companies to easily track usage and monitor product levels.
"HART is a good choice to take over our van service," said Chris Westwood, Synergy Logistics CEO. "We are already a HART distributor and were supplying our customers with HART products. HART has an advanced system for delivery and inventory control and our customers will benefit from the new service."
HART Health launched a franchise system this year to expand its van service to companies outside the Pacific Northwest, where it is a well-known brand. The acquisition of Synergy Logistics' van service is one of a series of market expansions and new franchises HART expects to announce in the upcoming year.
"We're focused on developing the highest quality commercial first aid supplies on the market," said Shaw. "Companies are spending more on employee first aid supplies in the workplace because it is an inexpensive way to lower health care costs. Our customers are spending more on supplies in the recession even though they have reduced the number of employees; we believe the commercial first aid supply market is ripe for growth."
