First Bank & Trust Company Commercial Division Continues to Grow

ABINGDON, Va., July 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Jonathan B. Comer is the latest to join the commercial lending team of First Bank & Trust Company in Harrisonburg, Virginia. 

Comer has thirteen years of experience, primarily from Blue Ridge Bank, formerly The Page Valley Bank, where he began his career in 2007.  Prior to his time with Blue Ridge, Comer worked as an intern at Scott & Stringfellow in Harrisonburg.  At First Bank & Trust Company, he works with business and commercial clients to identify, provide and leverage flexible financial solutions that provide them with access to capital.

Jonathan Comer attended James Madison University where he graduated from the Innovation MBA program in 2017.   In 2007, he obtained a Finance Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.  Comer attended Commercial Lending School through the Risk Management Association at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, and he attended the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  From 2007-2015, he completed courses in compliance, commercial lending and credit management at the Virginia Bankers Association in Richmond, Virginia.

Comer is Commissioner of the Page County Planning Commission in Luray, Virginia and Treasurer of Shenandoah Heritage Center in Shenandoah, Virginia.  He is a former Board member of Bankers Title Shenandoah in Winchester, Virginia, and Moneywise Payroll Solutions in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Comer also has previous experience with Luray/Page County Chamber of Commerce, Stadium Capital Partners, LLC, the Shenandoah Valley Rescue Squad and Luray Wranglers Baseball team.  He has been recognized for numerous awards from Future Business Leaders of America, LSU Graduate School of Banking, the Daily News Record and he was presented the Inaugural Rising Star Award from the Virginia Association of Community Banks in 2016.
