More than 125 advocates from 29 states will convene on Capitol Hill to advance bipartisan action on research, clinician education, access, coverage and workplace policy.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 125 advocates from 29 states will gather in Washington, D.C., on September 22 for the first-ever Perimenopause & Menopause Capitol Hill Day, bringing voices from across the country directly to lawmakers to advance federal action on menopause policy.
Hosted by Women's Health Advocates (WHA), the National Menopause Foundation and Perry, advocates will meet with lawmakers and staff to call for greater investment in research and clinician education, improved access to evidence-based care, insurance coverage and reimbursement, and workplace support.
The gathering comes less than a week after the Senate Special Committee on Aging held the first congressional hearing focused on menopause, bringing heightened attention to gaps in menopause research, training and care.
A 12 p.m. Congressional Briefing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building will feature Claire Gill, Founder and President of the National Menopause Foundation; Sharon Malone, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Alloy Health; Sandra Brooks, MD, MBA, CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; Laura Okafor, CEO of Perry; and Jayne Morgan, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Hello Heart, along with other experts.
"Perimenopause and menopause impacts 71 million women in this country and yet no legislation has been enacted to close gaps in research, education and care, and we are here today to change that to make this a national priority," said Liz Powell, Esq., MPH, Founder of Women's Health Advocates. "This first-ever Capitol Hill Day is bringing advocates to Washington to push for greater research investment, more education, improved access and coverage, and policies that finally recognize menopause as a national health priority. Elevating awareness is important, and now we need legislative action."
"Perimenopause is a years-long transition that every person born with ovaries will experience, yet too many women enter this phase unaware and unprepared," said Sharon Malone, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Alloy Health. "It is time for legislators, healthcare systems and policymakers to invest in women's health. It starts with education and ends with access to treatment, because women deserve — and should demand — better."
"Menopause is not a single moment. It's a transition that can span decades, and women deserve support at every stage of it," said Claire Gill, Founder and President of the National Menopause Foundation. "By widening this year's briefing from perimenopause to the full menopause journey, and by welcoming Women's Health Advocates as a partner, we're giving policymakers a clearer picture of what women need."
Founded in February 2025, Women's Health Advocates is the nation's only bipartisan lobbying organization advocating at the federal and state levels to advance women's health.
