First Investors Life Celebrates Life Insurance Awareness Month

NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - For the 12th consecutive year, First Investors Life is participating in Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM) held every September.

The event is coordinated annually by the nonprofit organization Life Happens® as part of a nationwide effort that brings together more than 100 companies and organizations to help raise the public's awareness about the many benefits of life insurance. This year's campaign is being spearheaded by LIAM celebrity spokesperson, Anthony Anderson, star of hit TV show Black-ish and host of Eating America.

Despite this, many Americans are severely underinsured and statistics from LIMRA, an international trade association for the financial services industry, bear this out. According to LIMRA's 2015 Insurance Barometer Study:

• 30 percent of Americans believe they need more life insurance;
  
  
• 43 percent said they would feel a financial impact within 6 months if the primary wage-earner died;
  
  
• 54 percent say it is unlikely they will purchase life insurance within the next 12 months.
